Linen essentially consists of flax threads. Cotton fabrics often pollute compared to linen. Therefore, it is best to opt for linen curtains at home, although these are a bit more expensive compared to cotton curtains.

The washing of linen curtains takes place depending on whether it is unbleached, dyed or half-bleached. Unbleached linen curtains should be washed with detergents that are free of optical brighteners. Linen fabrics have high tear resistance and high abrasion resistance when wet. Linen curtains need to be washed carefully if you want them to last for several years. Make sure that the temperature of the water used is about 60 degrees Celsius. Exceeding the temperature to reach more than 80 degrees may decrease the strength, gloss, and elasticity of the fabric.

Thinner curtains should be washed more gently compared to thicker linen fabrics. If the design is sensitive, place the curtains in a mesh bag to prevent wear in the washing machine. Linen curtains should never be washed together with dark fabrics. It is best to follow the manufacturer's instructions if you have dyed linen curtains.

If you do not wash the curtains in a washing machine, check the temperature with a thermometer. Dyed and natural linen should not be dried in intense sunlight. Do not overlay the wet curtains. When folding curtains for storage when not in use, caution is advised.
